An Evening of Multilingual Readings by BIPOC Writers & Translators

  • Yu and Me Books 44 Mulberry Street New York, NY, 10013 United States (map)

About this event

The BIPOC Literary Translators Caucus, formed at the 2020 American Literary Translators Association Conference (ALTA), is a collective open to all literary translators across the world who identify as BIPOC. We strive to create a space of camaraderie and support; we meet regularly, workshop work in-progress, and share resources. As several of our members are resident in NYC, we decided to hold a reading of our work in Manhattan, to introduce ourselves to the public as well as the local translation/ publishing community, and to promote the importance of literary translation. Yu & Me Books have kindly agreed to host us. This will be a free event. Each reader will read for about five to seven minutes each, and the reading will be followed by mingling over refreshments.

This is a free event generously sponsored by City Artist Corps Grants from New York Foundation of the Arts (NYFA), and kindly hosted by Yu & Me Books at Chinatown, Manhattan in NYC, with limited seating available on a first-come first-served basis. Masks are recommended.

Access to the venue includes a few steps to enter the bookstore, and the bathroom is located down a flight of steps to the basement. However, should any assistance be needed, participants are welcome to reach out to the staff members and event organizers.
